FAQ’S REGARDING PCIT SYSTEMS

Our PCIT systems are designed for plugand play usage when installed correctly. There are a number of variations on the theme; but the equipment should never be modified or re-wired. You will find below a number of solutions for typical problems. Please peruse these items; but always feel free to contact us.

We have no sound or the sound emanating from your BTE is very low.

1) First check your battery by replacing it with a fresh new one. Make sure that the battery is installed correctly. The old style BTE utilizes a 675A battery and the newer BTE utilizes a
Size 13 (Orange) Battery. Always check your date codes when purchasing new batteries.

2) Check the opening in the ear piece to make sure that ear wax is not obstructing the passage. Wax is very hard to see. We suggest that the canal ear piece be detached from the BTE receiver once a week and the ear piece ONLY, be immersed in a cup of rubbing alcohol, covered and left over night. The next day the canal ear piece can be flushed with water, dried and re-attached to the BTE. * NOTE * It is very important that the canal ear piece and the BTE be separated and
re-attached carefully and correctly or the BTE WILL BE DAMAGED! First look for the point where the curved ear hook on the BTE is attached to the plastic tube of the ear piece. Once found, grab as closely as possible to each side of the joint and separate by pulling them slowly apart. Please call us if you do not understand these directions. The BTE is very expensive.

3) The least likely possibility is that the transmitter’s frequency has been changed. If this is the case please contact us and we will walk you through the adjustments.

We have no picture or sound on the monitor.

This is generally caused because there was a building or area power failure. When this happens the VCR or DVD will revert to the default input. Find the remote control for the VCR / DVD and look for a button that says input. Push it and wait a second to see if you get a picture of the therapy room. If not, push it until you do; usually two or three times.

GENERAL DO’s AND DONT's

Do NOT use the system during a lighting storm. If a power line is hit in your area the thousands of volt surge could kill or injure you or the client!

Do NOT have liquids in the area of the equipment. This is electrical equipment and serious injury could result if the equipment is shorted. At best it will seriously damage the equipment.

It is normally only necessary to turn the video monitor of the PCIT equipment off. (Unless the room gets too hot when not occupied.)

Do NOT allow children to touch or play with the equipment for their safety and the equipment’s operational integrity.

When purchasing batteries ALWAYS CHECK THE DATE CODES and make sure that you have, at the very least one year, before expiration; more is better. Only purchase name brand batteries!

If your BTE, or other equipment is damaged, please contact us for repairs.
